In August 2006, the Government of Singapore announced its intention to build a terminal to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by ship allowing it to diversify the sources of its rising demand for energy.

In April 2008, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore appointed BG Group as the aggregator of the LNG demand for the Singapore market.

Announcement

BG Singapore Gas Marketing (BGSGM) is pleased to announce the commencement, on 1st April 2012, of its first open season for potential buyers to secure regasified LNG (liquefied natural gas) within Singapore on a short term basis (up to 12 months).
